Washington County Urban Services Strategy Print E-mail
Written by Bruce Bartlett

At the February 2005 CPO 1 meeting, then-county administrator Charlie Cameron presented the Wash Co. Unofficial Uban Services Srategy (PDF 1.5 MB).  He covered some history of local governments and then went on to describe many of the issues and presented the challenges he sees for the future of urban unincorporated area in Wash. Co.  This presentation is a great introduction to the needs driving the quest for an updated form of local government.

The county is grappling with its urban service strategy. Such a strategy would need to consider the situation currently on the ground and how to accomodate future growth.   Governance will contintue to be an issue because, if for no other reason, with only one county commissioner and a handfull of volunteer CPO leaders, 120,000 people in county district #2 have very little actual representation.
